Stylish door using Picture Frame Filter – Part 3

Today we shall follow by another creative usage of the Frame Filter to create a Stylish door. Detailed Step by Step Tutorial easy to follow

We had explained the details of the Picture Frame Filter in this tutorial : Explore the Picture Frame Filter – Part I. Then we had followed it by a creative usage of the floral filters together with the blending options and curves in this tutorial : Creative usage of Picture Frame Filter – Part II. Today we shall follow by another creative usage of the Frame Filter to create a Stylish door:

  • Set the working space
  • Create the door frame
  • Create a matching door
  • Add door decoration
  • Add Gold Door Knob

Step 1, Set the working space

  • Create a new File 1000pxX1000px 72 px/inch resolution
  • ctrl+0 to zoom in to the screen
  • ctrl+shift+n to create a new layer
  • Make the foreground color blackblack foreground
  • Use the bucket fill toolPaint Bucket toolto fill the new layer with black color

Step 2, Create the door frame

  • From the menu>Filter>Render>Picture Frame Filter apply the settings as below to set the frame of the door
  • Use the settings in the Figure 2-1 to set the frame
    • Basic settings: Frame: 42 Art Frame, Vine Color:Brown, Margin:1, size:16, Arrangement:50
    • Advanced Settings: Number of Lines 23
  • Notes:
    • Some settings are dimmed. This means that they are not available for this frame type.
    • The arrangement affects the shade and lighting of the frame and need to be consistent along your design

  • To change the Frame dimensions use ctrl+T (COMMAND+T) or menu>Edit>Free Transform
  • Make sure that the link icon is unchecked
  • Change the w (Width) to 50%

Step 3, Create a matching door

  • Select The rectangular tool from the side tool bar rectangle tool. If you can’t find it use the search tool at the top tool bar, far t the right search tool Then write “rectangle tool”, click on the result and the tool location will blink in blue
  • Hold the left click of your mouth or touch pad and drag the rectangle to cover the space inside the frame and little of the frame inside edges
  • From the top tool bar set the stroke to Non and from the fill, click on the gradient fill as shown in Figure 3-1
  • In Figure 3-2 You can see the basic gradient settings details:
    • On the top you can find a list of the previously used Gradients
    • Followed by menus as Basics and Blues of preset Gradients
    • Then the section for setting a custom gradient
    • Color: Is the beginning and end colors of the gradient. Here it will gradually move from black to white
    • Opacity: is the Opacity of this point on the gradient. Black means 100% opaque, white means transparent and you can insert a % value for it. You can add other points by clicking the upper edge of the gradient bar between opacity and color
    • Angle: is the angle of the linear gradient across the layer
    • Scale 100% means it covers the layer completely
  • Double Click on the center of the Black color square to the left. A color picker will appear. Move the cursor outside the color pallet and an eye dropper will appear to pick a color from the layer. Click on the upper top left corner of the frame and hit OK As in Figure 3-3
  • Double Click on the center of the White color square to the right. A color picker will appear. Move the cursor outside the color pallet and an eye dropper will appear to pick a color from the layer. Click on the lower bottom right corner of the frame and hit OK As in Figure 3-4
  • You can re-pick colors till you feel satisfied
  • The gradient of the door may appear to you opposite to the frame. Then you have 2 options either you re-pick the colors or hit the reverse icon beside angle
  • Then Change the angle value to 135. Result will be as Figure 3-5

Step 4, Add door Decoration

  • ctrl+shift+n to create a new layer
  • From the menu>Filter>Render>Picture Frame Filter apply the settings as below to set the frame of the door
  • Use the settings in the Figure 4-1 to set the frameBasic settings:
    • Frame: 46 Dual Rounded Art Frame, Vine Color:Brown (as step 2), Margin:10, size:20, Arrangement:50 (Very Important to be kept as Step 2)
    • Advanced Settings: Number of Lines 9, Angle 90
  • To change the Decorative Frame dimensions use ctrl+T (COMMAND+T) or menu>Edit>Free Transform
  • Make sure that the link icon is unchecked
  • Change the w (Width) to 40%
  • Result as in Figure 4-2

Step 5, Add Gold Door Knob

  • Add a new layer, ctrl+shift+n or Layer>New>Layer
  • Select the Ellipse tool ellipse tool or search from it using the search tool search tool and write Ellipse Tool, click on the result and its location will flash blue
  • Drag at the appropriate location for the door handle to you
  • Set the filling to white and stroke to yellow as in Figure 5-1

  • Select menu>Window>Styles
  • The side menu as in Figure 5-2 will appear
  • If you don’t see the “Legacy Styles”, click the the 4-lines drop down menu 4-lines-menu and select “Legacy Styles and More”
  • Select 2019 Styles, then Metallic, then first one. Result in Figure 5-3
