Open and Close a Stylish Door- Timeline Automation

Easy Detailed Steps to add animation to our door for closing and opening and changing the lighting of the image.

We had Detailed how to create a stylish door in a previous tutorial :Stylish door using Picture Frame Filter – Part 3 and we had explored the details of how to set the Picture Frame Filter in this tutorial: Explore the Picture Frame Filter – Part I. Today we are going to add animation to our door for closing and opening and changing the lighting of the image:

  • Draw a stylish Door
  • Add a scene behind the door
  • Add Curves to lighten up the image
  • Add Animation to open and close the door

Step 1, Draw a stylish door

  • We had detailed the door drawing in this tutorial: Stylish door using Picture Frame Filter – Part 3 and in the video above
  • Here, we shall add quick steps and the settings used
  • We shall start from a 1000X1000px working layout than we shall fill it with black
  • Add a new layer and add a Picture Frame filter to it with the following settings:
    • Basic settings: Frame: 42 Art Frame, Vine Color:Grey (Custom), Margin:1, size:20, Arrangement:50
    • Advanced Settings: Number of Lines 23
  • Then resize its width to 50%
  • The ctrl+j to duplicate it
  • Then add a new layer and add a rectangle to it to fill the frame opening. Fill it with a gradient matching to the frame gradient
  • Add a new layer and add to it a new Picture Frame Filter with the below setting
    • Frame: 17 Simple Lace, Vine Color:Grey, Margin:25, size:20, Arrangement:50
    • Advanced Settings: Thickness 75, Angle 200, Fade 0
  • Then ctrl+T and change only width to 50% by removing the link between W & H
  • Then Add a new layer, add a small ellipse to it and give it ametallic style
  • Group the door, decoration and Handle then merge the group
Final Door

Step 2, Add a scene behind the door

  • Select the Door Frame copy we had generated in the previous step
  • Drag it o be the top layer in the layer panel (Get the layers panel using F7)
  • Select the picture frame tool Picture frame tool
  • Draw a picture frame inside the frame opening
  • Use menu>File>Place Embedded to add a nice shiny image behind it
  • Drag The Door merged group above it in the layer panel

Step 3, Add Curves to lighten up the image

  • to add a lighting curves layer, menu>Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Curves
  • Pull the light curve up as the Figure 3-1
  • Adjust its opacity to zero opacity 0 from the top of the layers panel

Step 4, Add Animation to open and close the door

  • To add animation, menu>Windows>TimeLine
  • Click Create Video Time Line
  • From the layers panel F7
  • Select the grouped door and convert it to smart object men>Layer>Smart Objects>Convert to Smart Object
  • Then
    1. Open the Group Animation Settings
    2. Click on the stop watch beside transform to create a main Frame, a Yellow diamond will appear on the time line
    3. Drag the frame pointer to the middle
    4. menu>Edit>Transform>Perspective
    5. Drag the white square that appears on the top right corner on the door down till 15 degree. Figure 4-1
    6. Press Enter a white diamond will appear on the middle of the time line
    7. Then click V
    8. Drag the white square at the middle of the door to the inside for about 2/3 of the distance. Figure 4-2
    9. Press Enter
    10. Drag the Frames pointer to the end of time line
    11. Right click the first Yellow diamond and select copy
    12. Right click it again and select paste. Figure 4-3
    13. A new Yellow diamond will appear at the location of the Frame pointer at the end of the time line
    14. Go to the curves Layer

  1. Expand the Curves 1 layer
  2. Drag the Frame Pointer to the beginning of the timeline
  3. Click the stop watch timer icon beside Opacity, A yellow diamond will appear marking the first frame
  4. Drag the frame Pointer to the middle of time line
  5. Change the opacity of the curves layer to 100 from the top of the layers panel (get the layers panel by clicking F7) opacity 100 percent, Automatically a diamond icon will appear in the mid of time line
  6. Drag the Frame pointer to the last frame of timeline
  7. Change the opacity of the curves layer to 100 from the top of the layers panel (get the layers panel by clicking F7). Automatically a diamond icon will appear at the end of time line
  8. Click Play and Enjoy
